Barnes and his ever-rotating cast piece together memorable pop songs one after the other and at a stupendous frequency. In recent memory, it seems like of Montreal has been coming out with something unseen or brand new every year and their tour regimen is ridiculous – it seems like they’re always on tour whether they have something new or not! If you know about the Elephant 6 collective, I can bet you a good chunk who read or hear that term will think of of Montreal or Neutral Milk Hotel first. Kevin Barnes prolific songwriting is something that is almost peerless. Quality and quantity don’t often find themselves among the same company often, but Kevin always manages to wrap them in.
